We here at IJ headquarters (i.e. my house) want to purchase and collocate our own servers for IJ. This, in the long run, will be less costly and more efficient than the current status of our hardware (we rent it from a hosting company and they charge us alot of money a month). While we are looking into the whole 'Hospital Benefactor' thing, we are open to more ideas, so speak up, IJland!

I hate people.

I like individual persons.

But, as a whole, i hate people.

They have no compunction in stealing someone elses hard earned money to go on frivolous shopping spree. We are now WAY short of our $2500 monthly server bill. Im hoping the sale on Friday goes well enough to cover it $700 someone stole from us.


Luckily, our bank is investigating/researching and, hopefully, reimbursing us all our lost money. AND the 8 overdraft fees.

Squeakys Day job is in the process of moving buildings, so being one of the only 2 admins, he got stuck doing alot of the work to make it happen seamlessly for the people he works for/with. He has not had time to spend with his family, let alone work on IJ. Coming home at 6am and being back at work before noon is screwing up his sleep cycle (not to mention not getting enough sleep). The move, however, is almost over so in a week or so he should be able to start working on the site again.

We do apologize for how long its been since anything was addressed or worked on. Squeaky has barely had time to breathe, let alone post much of anything here.

At this time we are aware of a number of problems with InsaneJournal, including comment rot and its various new mutations. Unfortunately, squeaky has a full time day job he HAS to work in order to support his family. InsaneJournal doesnt make nearly enough for him to quit and work on it full time, nor does it allow for hiring someone to help out. I would help, if i could, but i am completely ignorant when it comes to coding and the like, so its all foreign to me. So, it all falls to squeaky. Right now, his day job is keeping him busy (working most weekends and late nights during the week) and what little time he has left over he spends with me and our daughter. Hopefully that wont last much past the first of next month...


We do apologize for the amount of time it is taking to address the comment rot issue, its been a tedious process trying to figure out how exactly the comment posting works, to hopefully figure out how to correct the problem. Its long, drawn out and annoying, we know. We aren't ignoring you, nor are we ignoring the problem. The only advice i can give at this point is to try to keep backup of any important entries and comments (can someone comment with the link to that nifty tool alot of you used to import your GJ stuff to here and directions on how to use it, please?). We know this effects alot of RPers and again we apologize. Squeaky is working on it, when he can. This is also why no new features have been pushed out in awhile. No time to work on it. Hopefully by before Christmas, we will have some new things to roll out. Still debating on how, if at all, to do vgifts.


There are still a few of you out there asking us to change the 'theme' of the site. That will never happen. Ever. Tweak is here to stay, as is the insane theme. Its all done tongue in cheek, satirically. Im sorry if some of you are offended by it. There are no plans to offer and alternative scheme taking out any of the insane/institution lingo/jargon/wording.

squeaky bought me the amazon kindle for mothers day. i have just now gotten around to playing in the experiment section. i can surf the web, but its best done on text only sites. this is one big advantage the kindle has over the sony reader. that, and wireless downloads. its great. i recommend it to everyone.

Today at approx 12:15pm, we had to have our wonderful dog, Leather, put to sleep. He was only 7 1/2 years old. He had a habit of eating things he shouldnt, which cause him to have blockages which resulted in surgery to remove them. Because of the surgeries, his intestines werent in very good shape. He ate something that possibly irritated and inflamed his intestines causing them to loop in and around themselves and fuse together in a large mass. Food could not pass through this jumbled mess. He began coughing a few days ago, but continued eating and acting fine. Thursday evening he started throwing up, that continued all day friday. Worried, we brought him to the vet today, only to find out the horrible news.

He was a wonderful pet. Loving, loyal and happy. I miss my cuddle buddy already.

My heart hurts.

I know its been awhile since squeaky worked on the site. Sorry about that. Life has been so freaking weird lately. Trying to get custody of my nephew, dealing with hurricane/tropical storm Fay, and much more. Its a trying battle and at the end of each day, we are so farking exhausted we just collapse. Hopefully this weekend we can carve out some time for J to work on the site. Most likely sunday afternoon evening. Keep an eye out, folks.

Squeaky and i are heading to visit my Family in VA in a few hours. We will have laptops if anything goes wrong, but if the site is just running a bit slow, please bare with us. Chances are its doing the backups and such and will clear up in a bit. We will be near the Lynchburg (specifically Blue Ridge) area of Virginia. Anyone got any suggestions on things to do or see?

I totally apologize to everyone for this outage. Ack. If you could have seen poor Squeaky. *shakes head* He was frantic and stressed and even left his 9-5 job yesterday to come home to try to fix this. *grumble* The hosting company royally screwed up. Like, totally, royally screwed up. We have plans we are getting into place for if this should ever happen again *shudder*. Im just glad nothing was lost.

*takes a deep breath* Wow, first time ive been able to do that in over a day.

We also have a few ideas to compensate those of you who lost paid time because of this. More on that later. right now, we just want to assure everyone that the site is up and running and everything should be back to normal in a few hours. If you are seeing 404 errors and the like (page not found, ect) try holding the shift button while hitting reload. Chances are your browser is trying to load from its memory files and since we had to chance IP addresses things arent quite where they used to be. Like i said, it should all be worked out in a few hours, maybe a day.
